I have managed to find my precious family photos, and what memories they bring back.(some happy, some sad)Photos of my wonderful Dad, who showed such great courage and strength in living with his disability,I still very much miss his presence.
Photos of my beautiful Mother, now 87 years of age, who sadly has Alzheimers disease, (although I am grateful for the fact that the deterioration in her condition has occurred slowly over the past 7 years) and lastly my fantastic brother, who I also miss more than words can say.
Now I just need to scan the photos, so that I can put them in my blog.

My father has Alzheimer's Disease too. In fact, it's his birthday today, so he's now 87 too. It's a very sad condition, but I'm glad you've got your photographs.
I don't have many of my parents, but perhaps I'll post some too.

I'm sorry that your Mother has Alzheimers disease, it must be very difficult to watch her withdraw into herself. My Mum is 85 and is generally pretty well (despite having a heart attack a year ago). Unfortunately she lives 6 hours drive away so I don't see her as often as I'd like.
My Dad died in 1962, and I only have five pictures of him - I wish I had more... Tone xx

For me looking back at old memories helps to give me lots of comfort at the present. Especially if the present seems like a rough time.
My gran has dementia that came on quite sudden taking everyone by suprise. Seeing her as she is now is like having to get used to a different version of herself. That is the hard part. Photos though will always help me to remember how strong she always is. She's also without a doubt the person i most admire in the whole world.

Just like to say what a wonderful compliment you paid to your Gran, by saying she is "the person you most admire in the whole world" She sounds like a wonderful person, and you in turn are also wonderful for acknowledging this. It really touched me on a heart level, because I would like to think that my Grandson would feel the same about his Gran(me)in the future. Although that will be some time away, seeing as he is only 1 year old!
